Computing
Intent
technology is everywhere and will play a pivotal part in children’s lives. Therefore, at Stickney we want our children to become masters of technology. We want to model and educate
pupils on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely. We want children to become creators using our broad curriculum, encompassing computer science, information technology and digital literacy. We model the positive use of technology through our own school social media and recognise that a lot of issues that we currently see can be prevented through education.
We recognise that technology can allow children to share their learning in creative ways, which is why their school accounts can be accessed at home, preparing them for when they move to their secondary schools. Children’s knowledge will build progressively throughout their school life providing them with plenty of opportunities to apply this knowledge to become skilful computer scientists.
Our Computing Scheme of Work
At Stickney we use a cloud-based platform for primary-aged children called Purple Mash. It contains a wide range of age-appropriate, creative software tools for writing, drawing, coding, animating, blogging and much more. Purple Mash contains digital tools for writing, drawing, painting and activities across the curriculum.
Purple Mash has a computing scheme of work which we use to support our teaching.
